For years I've heard things like "think positive" and "it takes money to make money" and "you are what you eat". I know there is a good basis for most of the "sayings" or proverbs or euphemisms, but sometimes they are also very subjective and do not have relevance. Or they become outdated with new information.
I've been learning how to adjust my thinking. I have heard many things in the past and they have run off me, or gone over my head, because I wasn't ready for them at that time. Then when I need the information, I hear it again and suddenly it is like it is highlighted in my mind. I may even know that I've heard before, but now it is important, or believable, or has relevance for me.
There is a book I've really enjoyed, and would recommend, that has made a big difference in how I see myself. It actually isn't the same kind of self-help book, like Think and Grow Rich would be. But in overcoming negative behavior or self-defeating behaviors, it is great. It is called Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol K. Truman. In this book she says all the things we have seen, heard, experienced and been taught are buried somewhere in our mind/heart/personality. When we want to change something, eliminate pain, overcome our challenges, we need to access the source of those feelings and experiences. But rather than having to go back and revisit the pain or struggle, we can ask our spirit or superconsciousness to find and eliminate or modify it for us. We can eliminate many of the symptoms of those painful experiences, even health challenges, as we access this source of help.
I have used it to help me overcome fear, self consciousness, lack of self esteem, addictive behaviors, and other things that I did not want in my life. It is amazing to me that some of the things can be overcome so easily. I would really recommend everyone who wants their lives to be more full and rich to check out the library or purchase your own book. I go back to the book frequently to get more information, to review things I've forgotten, or weren't important the last time I reviewed the book.
You can find this book at Amazon or other books that you want to change your life. We are either growing or shrinking, and that is not just about our physical stature.
I have also enbarked on a couple of educational programs that I can get through the mail, learning how to create an internet business with all the itinerate possibilities, and becoming a more persuasive and charismatic person. I'm learning that to be successful you need to have an abundance mindset, not a poverty perspective.
When I was thinking negatively and dwelling on debts or drawbacks, then that was what I attracted. When I decided to do something different, to look for solutions instead of thinking of all the stumbling blocks in my path, things began to happen. The teachers, the mentors, the gurus seem to come just when I needed them. When the time was right, and I was ready to hear what they had to say, they came.
